Harley's new toy?

Harley had a great time yesterday, playing with this mouse. They played for hours. Don't worry, I think the mouse got away.
I got my new copy of Cloth,Paper,Scissors and have been buried in it ever since. I am trying one of the rust recipe's and have 12 more hours to go for the results.
This morning I emptied out the Cheerio's box and started cutting it up and making wings and crowns(while eating breakfast:) DH says" you go to bed creating and it's the first thing you do this morning?" Yep! That's me.

is summer over?

My poor sunflower says yes. We had a heavy frost this morning and it pretty much zapped out most of the morning glories. I took a bunch of the vines and made a wreath with them. Had to recycle! The days are still pretty warm but the nights and mornings are COLD! I'm not complaining...it's time.
I am busy getting ready for my trip to the Houston Quilt show next week. I am sooo excited! More than 2,000 quilts, around 400 classes and 1,100 vendors! I just can not imagine. It's going to be like dying and going to fabric heaven.
Have a great weekend.

feeling fall-ish

Time for Fall!
We finally have some cooler weather here (still no fall colors yet) so I decided to add them to the inside of the house. I made some fall arrangements and here are a couple of them.
The temps went from the high 80's to the mid 30's in ONE day!

fish monday

Hello again. Just put my fish up today, just for the heck of it. Been busy sewing and making my halloween cards. Did some baking today, oh about this fish, people tell me that it looks like a pike. Well, I named him bob pike after a family member with the last name of Pike.
Nothing exciting...just checking in.

thinkin pink

Saw this sign at the mall. It's sooo true! Have a pink weekend. Have some pink champagne, put a little pink in your hair, paint something pink.....take a picture of a pink flamingo.....you get the idea. I painted my nails pink this morning, nail art today...that's all.

October doll art

One of my hanging black cat dolls.
One of my pumpkin dolls.
I was so glad the big storm had passed that I almost forgot the ART!

still here

We made it thru the storm. They had one tornado touch down not too far from here, and it landed in a field so no one was hurt. A local golf course has some damage from the hail. We had dime to nickle sized hail here.

storms today!

Today is my 26th wedding anniversary and storm day. You know it's bad when they take off the President's speech to put the weather on. We are under a tornado watch ALL DAY! Will keep you posted...keep your fingers crossed.

another black cat

Since October is black cat month, I am adding another favorite kitty to my blog. This is Ace, my daughter Holly's cat. He is just a kitten but is already a pretty good size. He is laying on a purple quilt made by yours truly. He is soooo cute.

really old art

OK, so I have been busy doing my Fall cleaning. I not only got the studio done, I did the whole house. So I am having a little art withdrawl and will start something new today, YAY!
Since I didn't have any new art to post I thought I would show you an old painting I did when I was 15. It was my first watercolor.

artfull life

This is a scene from my powder room in the studio. Looking at my studio pictures, I've come to realize that if it dosn't move...it gets painted. The front of my desk looks like one of Sharon's Pringle cans.
Some more Scribbler art here. It's so much fun. You never really know how it will turn out. It reminds me of the old Etch-a Sketch.
Back to the studio for day 3? I've lost track. Anyway, my goal today is to clear off the art table. I have been trying to do it for weeks now and every time I start, I get involved in making something. It's a BIG table and apparently a big challenge for me. Today is the day! Wish me luck.

studio views

Still cleaning up the studio. Here are a few shots of the place.
My sewing chair. I get carried away sometimes when I start painting.

Not a painting....it's the front right side of my desk.

My dollhouse with one of my mini Santa dolls.

Wall of thread. This is my stamping section.

still in the studio

Still cleaning the studio, but making progress. You can sit on the couch now. This is my embossing section by the window. I also work on my glass here.

I put this little fabric college together yesterday (while cleaning up) I thought Kasey looked so cute with his two front teeth missing.
Tomorrow....who knows? It's bowling day.

grandson art

Today was clean the studio day (day one) I wish I could do it all in one day. My studio is almost 600 square feet. I know, I am soooo lucky! Anyway here is art work by my two grandsons, Kasey (his art is on the left) and Kyle. If you click on Kyle's art, you can see him up in the tree.
I did cheat and work on a couple projects while organizing the work space.
And Mr. Harley snuck in his photo in the last post...little rascal!

floor art

Here is a rug I made while watching TV. It's the locker hook method and I used old fabric from my stash. My Mom used to make these with wool and I have her old wool strips and hope to make a winter project out of that. She hooked hers on burlap and made one rug with an icon for every Holiday and season. It's here somewhere, when I find it I will post it here for you. It's quite interesting. (No Marc, that does not make us "hookers". Well...in a way:)

a request

I had a request to show the Life Quilt as a whole quilt, so here it is. It measures 60"wide by 50"long.
I made this for a friend's birthday. It's a picture of her cute Grandkids.

Tomorrow....floor art!

Good Morning

Good morning. I woke up early today and it felt good. Yesterday I got caught up in house work and never made it to the studio to work on those altered books.
Today I am lunching with the ladies and doing some "fun" shopping (quilt store, scrapbook store, ect:) The pink book in the photo was given to me by my daughter, Holly. It's labeled Momagenda and it sure helps me keep my self organized. Thanks again Hol.
More later.....

Happy Fall Y'all

The calendar says it's Fall, but the heat here says "NOT!" I am ready...bring on the cool air. Last night's storm. I alway's have to report home that everything is OK after a storm. Well, everything is OK in OK. My only worry was that the cable was in and out on good TV night.
More on those altered books later.....after my dental appointment....anyone care to go in my place? It's just a cleaning.
Later.......

scribbler art

I did manage to color this little drawing whilst watching TV last night. I used the Scribbler to draw it. Fun stuff.

meet Harley

Being October now with witches and black cats all about, I thought I would introduce you to my trusty sidekick...Harley. This picture turned out so darn funny. That's actually a table leg and not his tail. He is just over a year old and whenever I am in the studio he has to be there too. Morning glory madness! These beautiful flowers went berzerk and tore down the steel pole that my bird feeder was on.
Where's the art you ask? I'm working on it. Tomorrow will be a good day to show the progress on the altered books. We will seeeeeeeeeeeeee..............

time for art

Some of my new goodies from my trip back to MD. I just love and need to get ALL of the new Tim Holtz stamp collection.
While I was gone I missed the Bloglandia Ball. I think my two mannequins here would have liked to attend. Anyway, it's a new month time to get cracking on some new art projects. As my clock tells me all the "time" it's time for art. Why don't you start some new art project...try something new and send it to me. Or suggest a new project for me to do?
Time to go. I am working on 7 new altered books...at one time!!!
