Hey Deb, if you can't find yourself on the big picture, it's because you have your own block.

a crazy four patch
I'm back
I am back from my trip back home to Maryland to visit family and friends (and load up on new art goodies:) I was greeted back to Oklahoma by a pair of rather large (HUGE) black widow spiders. The largest of the two was on my mailbox yesterday and I have not been back to get the mail yet. I see no good reason for these creatures on this earth except to scare the bejeezum's out of me.
I was having major art withdrawl and started working on a quilt last night. I am hoping for a full blown art weekend....we will see.
Only three days left of the life quilt. This one is my Maryland block.

mail art!
Yea! I recieved mail art and a lot more from my blogger buddy Sharon, from All Norah'S Art.
It was a party favor for attending her art party last weekend.
The brown thing in the background is a vintage suitcase I picked up at an antique shop. It was white and I am working on it a little at a time. When I get it finished I will put it on here for show and tell.

drag race weekend
I know it's all about the art but these are my last two racing blocks of the life quilt. One is for DRAW, the Drag Racing Association for Women. We help injured racers with financial dificulties.
And the other is where I won a contest and was able to start the first race of the season. It was great!!!
I did it!

toughest job....
Yep, the toughest job in the Air Force is being an Air Force wife. I did my time, 22 years. And he did his time, too. Twenty two years was not enough and he continued on with the same job, only as a civilian.
Have an artful weekend...I am walking in a walk-a-thon called the Kat Walk for kidney awareness...wish me luck. The last walk a thon I tried to do...I had to take the bus back.

art dolls
Art doll one, Hero, was a guardian angel doll challenge for Quilting Arts magazine. Ya'all know who that would be. It was published in the Summer 05 issue. I took organ donation bumper stickers and shrunk them down and transferred them to fabric, for the body. And put his face on using the photo transfer technique.
Doll two, Miss Potts, was a
challenge for Art Doll Quarterly magazine, called Flower Children. She was happy to be published in the Summer 04 issue.
Her face was stamped and painted, and her body was made using the flower pounding (fun!) method. Using flowers from my garden.

special man
not fabric art
Some people have asked me about the kidney block. I guess I should have explained. Bad kidney's run rampant in our family. I believe there are six family members with the "bad kidney curse." My older brother and sister both had kidney transplants and my other brother passed away this year needing a transplant. I had my transplant two and a half years ago. My husband, Bill, was a perfect match (odds of that are one in a million). He is truly my hero and I thank him and my lucky stars everyday.
So now you know why I am always pushing organ donation.

what a day.....
What a day I'm having. My scanner upstairs is toast, it had been acting "funny" and now it's dead. And to top it off, my printer, downstairs, is leaking ink and printing horribly. I have projects to get done and I need these machines to cooperate. So, I guess I will clean up the studio and go printer, scanner, copier shopping tomorrow.
No fabric cupcakes were made this weekend but I did get all the materials together.
And it is raining today...and when it rains it pours.
Another page from the life quilt.

oops!
photo friday
Still unable to post pictures today. My weekend projects are to rearrange the garages to fit another car. Which means sorting thru a million (seems like a million) bins of mostly fabric.
Sounds like a lot of work, but if it's not too hot should be some fun, too. I always find things I was either looking for or forgot I had.
Then if time permits I want to make some cupcakes...fabric cupcakes.
We'll see.

???
OK, Where are my pictures? I think the blogger site has a little gremlin, and sometimes he doesn't want us to have photo's on here. I will try again later.
National Sewing Month
Since it is National Sewing Month I will be showing my fabric art for the rest of the month. These blocks are from my life quilt.

weekend art
I worked on this painting for most of the weekend. It's a technique by Misty Mawn, but I was inspired by Sharon over at all Norah's art. Sharon had a party going on all weekend at her blog. I urge you to check out her site and all of her wonderful art. It's the first link on my fun places to visit list.
The name of this painting is "spoiled."
