I actually woke up early this morning. My brain woke me up with ideas for teaching a new class. I love when that happens! So I got up, grabbed a cup of coffee and started to write down all the ideas....before I forget.
Then the sprinklers came on and I took this photo. I like the textured effect of the water drops on the pots. Click on picture to enlarge.
That's it......Have a great Saturday!

friday...art day
I have decided that every Friday will be art day here at the pink crayon studio. I will post some form of art. This is a recent painting/collage.....she's pretty funky.
I am off to grocery shop, for some reason that takes me all day. I will be working on rag bagz this weekend, but taking time off to go and see the new Indiana Jones movie......love me some Harrison Ford.

furniture art
OK, this is what I painted last weekend. It's a chest of drawers that I keep all my little craftie things in.
I should have taken a picture before I repainted it. It was a cheesey color with green vines here and there. The new color wasn't a choice...it was a mixture of two paints I already had. It was late and I wanted to paint it NOW! I had no idea where I was going with it. I put a few napkin florals on and used the bubble wrap. Then decided to number the drawers...randomly. And finished it off with a few circles using the end of an empty paper towel roll. It's pretty funky.

celebration day
Thanks for all the birthday wishes. I put a photo of my metal cake on here so I wouldn't tempt anyone to crave the real sugar.
And to make my day even sweeter, I won this Frieda print from Tascha! I just love her work! and her video's. She is a real sweetheart. Thanks again Tascha!
So I am off to another Art Festival this weekend and I am in search of a cool piece of art jewelry from my sweet DH.

cupcake lovin 2
This time the cupcake is real! I was browsing thru Jamie's on Tuesday and I had a sample cupcake and said this will be my Birthday cake. She said no and sent me home with this beautiful cupcake that must have weighed a quarter pound! It took me three sittings to eat it all and I even shared a bite with DH.
It was so sweet of her. She even gave me a cool sparkly candle to go on top.
For those of you that live in the area, her shop is located in Cassidy Square, OKC.

It's a fun place to shop and they always give you a little something to sample.

blu art
One of my favorite artists, Suzi Blu was taking commissions for a short time and I jumped in and had her make a painting for me. Lot's of pinks of course. I just love it.
I love her style and her sweet faces. She adds lots of little details that you must see in person to really notice them. She starts out with woodburning and finishes with sparkly paints and irridescent stars embedded under a coating of scented beeswax. Bravo Suzi!

more pink stuff
I have been busy organizing and weeding out things I don't need or probably will never use. I bought this as a put it together-do it yourself thing to store my favorite zines. It was fun and I'd like to make another...if I can remember where I bought it.
Yes, it's from Suzi Blu!

collage art
Today's art piece is a 5x5 inch collage using an embossed napkin as my base. After painting and staining it, the look sort of resembles an embossed leather. I added a distressed playing card and grunge board keyhole and hinge (Tim Holtz). I love the grunge board...don't know what it is but I like it.
The honeysuckles smell heavenly!

friday news
YAY! It's Friday again. No plans for this weekend, but we always manage to cook something up.
While I was playing yesterday, I discovered that you can heat emboss on paper napkins (above wing) and you can also apply rub ons (5) and of course rubber stamp on them. This may or may not be a new discovery but it was new to me so I thought I would share anyway. It's great for collage for a for sure result in advance.
This is one of the 4 five inch collages I assembled yesterday. It appears to be all greenish but the camera shows the white bits. To tone down the number five I applied a piece of torn napkin over it. The skull stamp is on a paint sample card.

OK, now you can view Sharon's mail art as a whole piece. I don't think the photo does it much justice. It's prettier in person. The tag has a silver embossed wing on it. I like to make my own envelopes. I use cardstock folded over and secure the sides with brads or eyelets.
For all you Ace of Cakes and Duff fans out there, he will be on Rachel Ray's show today.
That should be a hoot. I think he tries to show her how to bake. I can't believe she can't bake!

beautiful art day
I recieved this painting today from Zorana.
I just love her music hair and her soulful eyes. The title is "Tenderness and delicacy."
She has a thing for hands so I found the perfect stamp....wings & hands.

mail art day
But to my surprise......someone had mailed mail art to me!
It was from Sharon! And she sent me goodies....fabric. I always tell DH, every day that I get fabric is a GOOD day. And it was. Thank you, Sharon, for making my day.
Don't forget to have an artful weekend. This weekend I am going to a grill out. Not sure exactly what it is but I'll let you know.

a better photo?
monopoly fun
beginning stages
I first lightly gessoed the board to prep it, then added paint effects and paper embellishments.
I got this idea from the October issue of Stampington magazine....not my brain.

has a huge painting of the girls face in the middle of the board. I chose to use a smaller photo instead.
.....and ideas on the other side
I still have a few finishing touches to make but this is pretty much the whole thing. I don't want to over-do it. It would be easy to do, but I am going to make another one. If you decide to make one be sure to show it to me . You can pick up used game boards at thrift stores. I got this one for $2.50. Check yards sales, too. And just have fun. Once you get started the ideas come flooding in.

a few more peeks
Here are a few more peeks at the monopoly board art. I thought I would have finished up already but I had to take a day off. Yesterday was the day from H-E-double hockey sticks!
Started off my day with a speeding ticket. But I didn't know I was speeding. I was doing the speed limit but I was in the school zone..... I thought I was out......I wasn't. As a matter of fact I drove right past the cop who pulled me over. He asked how I was doing. I said I was fine until I saw him behind me. I haven't had a ticket in over 30 years! I guess I was due for one.
I bowled pretty good. It was our last day and next week we bowl for fun and money. Then a really bad headache set in and I couldn't shake it. BUT TODAY I was up and working on my art and all is right with the world again.
So hopefully tomorrow it will be ready to show.

Cinco de Mayo
I had so much fun yesterday playing with my Monopoly board. Not playing the game, but altering it with paints and inks, papers, photo's, stickers.....let's just say anything I could find.
