Just one more flower picture. Another thing I love about the morning glory is its graceful tendrils. The way her stems just wander about looking for a place to wrap around. It's kind of creepy in a way. I would love to see fast forward footage of them.

flying saucers
Yes, it's my glories again. I have been avoiding going out to the back yard since hearing about the snakes. I looked out there yesterday and OMG the whole back fence is a wash of blues and purples! They are awesome! Click on the photo to see the real beauty. Tomorrow I will take you to the white morning glories and show you a funny bee.
Speaking of awesome, DH and I went to see the RENT filmed on Broadway. The last performance. I didn't know what to expect as far as the filming but they did an outstanding job!

Having been active in local theater, I know those feelings of a last performance and a standing ovation....the emotions go on and on. Bravo!
I rate this a ten tissue movie.

great news
Great-great news! Monica over at Girl Gone Thread Wild has raised over $2000.00 so far for the Susan G. Komen foundation with the Pink Artist Project. It's not too late to make your donation (for a great cause) and have a chance to win this fabulous doll. And there are runners up prizes too.
Great job Monica!

down & out
There is a bug going around and we got it. Yep, both of us. It hit me in the second frame of the second game of league bowling last night. Just like that...like someone put a curse on me and snapped their fingers. Then about a half hour later it hit DH. Feeling a bit better today but very weak. And we both had wicked muscle cramps...very weird.
So next week I will get around to the rose tutorial. Right now I have to concentrate on keeping my meds down. I know...TMI...thanks for sharing..on that note I'm outta here.

b-daze
Did I tell anyone that September is a killer month in our family for birthdays? Today's b-day wish goes out to Marce! Happy Birthday! She is my niece and turns a whopping 48 today. Geez, I am feeling OLD!
Kasey and Kyle, my two grandsons also celebrate their birthdays this month so Happy B-Day to them too!
Today is a got to get things done day....you know refill meds, renew the car tags, not so fun stuff but at the end of the day I get to bowl.
I am still getting the table ready and will have that rose tutorial up sometime Friday.

photo of the week
It's another Monday and another photo of the week. Another fun shot of Miz P in her condo. What a sweetie!
No art was made this weekend. Went to Dallas for the National Hot Rod Association races. Can you tell it makes me happy?

my favorites are the funny cars
That's my guy, Ron capps. He didn't win. He is having a hard time this year, but I am his number one fan and always will be.....maybe next year Ron.
So later this week I will get to showing how I made the paper rose. I have to get that table cleared off so you can see what I am doing and that's no small task. I need to lock up the muse so I can concentrate.

it's FRIDAY!
I am fried and ready to relax this weekend.
I forgot to mention that DH and I went to the movies last weekend and saw Burn After Reading. Brad Pitt was hilarious but if F bombs bother you then I would skip this one. We saw it at our favorite theater, the Warren. We sat in the grand auditorium in huge heated seats and ordered our food and drinks. You have to be 21 years old to sit in there....but such luxury for a movie.
shadow play
In the early evening hours of this time of year I am always watching for the pink and orange colors that come streaming thru the front windows of the house. Then I run and grab the camera and start taking photos of the beautiful sunsets.
This time I turned around and saw these patterns on the wall. The beveled glass on the front door acts as a stencil and made some pretty art. It almost looks electric.

Shadows were everywhere.
.... and then in a flash it was gone....

I want to thank everyone for their comments and compliments on yesterdays challenge blog. Some of you asked how to make the paper rose. I used the same technique that you use to make a fabric rose. But it is a little harder with the paper because it doesn't give like fabric. I folded the paper in half then ran a running stitch thru the bottom and gathered it. First gather tightly for the top piece then looser for the bottom . Then glue the top into the bottom. Cut out several leaf patterns and glue them together. You can sew a vein down the middle. I was going to do this but didn't and wished that I did. Then just glue the leaves to the bottom of the flower.
I looked at a close up of the rose (click on photo to enlarge) and found my name...bonus!
Have a tremendous Thursday!

project blogway
It's time. Did you do it? The challenge I told you about last weekend? I did. But let me say that I didn't have the time I needed to really do it well but I wanted to participate so I made a paper collar.
I used newspaper and magazine pages to make the white collar part. I glued pages together then free motion stitched them around the edges. Then topped it off with a paper rose made from dictionary pages. I used different shades of pink (and greens for the leaves) stamp pad and alcohol inks to color the pages before cutting and tearing them into the shapes I needed to make the petals and leaves.

monday instructions
It's Monday...time for photo of the week. But lets talk about Tim Holtz. He makes these (above) incredible tags. I can't get enough of them. I wish I could get a huge amount of the "believe" tags as I would put them on my Santa dolls. Anyway several of my friends had mentioned they want to marry Tim (he does amazing things and you can check out his blog on my side bar) and I replied...yep! he is the perfect husband...he is only home two weeks of the year.
Here is my Monday assignment:

natures art
We got our rain from Ike yesterday and I just had to share last nights sunset with you. It started like this.
Well, it's studio Sunday and I am off to finish two more bagz and start some new fun art projects. And try to tackle that table once again. I swear someone comes in the the middle of the night and piles more stuff on it.

still here
I am still here....September 11 is still such a vivid memory that I just avoided yesterday all together. So I am still sewing and still cleaning and today I am cooking and I have been recycling......threads. You know the mess of thread you get when you wash your fabrics (above)?
Well, you can put a pile in your palm and roll it up and sew thru it until a nice firm ball appears and voila! you have beads to play with.
Have an artful weekend!

mornin'glories!
Today is a cool 68 degrees (so far) and misty with a light fog. Perfect for capturing my morning glories on film. I am a little sceptical about wandering in the yard right now. DH found two baby rattle snakes so there is a nest somewhere.
Shades of blue here. I love them because they are a great hummingbird feeder without the sticky mess of changing the necter and all the little bugs involved.

theatre arts
Yes, I admit I am a Renthead and I have turned my family into Rentheads and I have seen it numerous times and places but I didn't make it to Broadway. DH said we would go before it closed but things get busy and times slips away and now it is gone. But on the bright side the original Mark and Roger are starting a tour in January 2009. It will come to Dallas in May and if we are still here in OK, we will be there.
Another bright side! They taped the final show and it will be showing in movie theaters starting September 24th...how cool is that?!
