photo of the week

It's Monday....time for photo of the week. I took this one Saturday evening as the sun was setting....through the beveled glass on my front door.

This is not the art project I mentioned in yesterday's post. I got a little crazy with my guy muse, Art, and made a bunch of altered flash cards. I think it would be a fun "play-date" class.

..... we put embossed crowns on the attitude sisters.....

I've got a thing for paint chips now and have an idea for a huge collage. Also want to do something with the above cards.

Have a great week and do something artful.

Just checking in today to say hello. It's studio sunday and I am still sewing bagz. But I have a new art project started and while I am sewing and arting, I am STILL cleaning up the place.
I am soooo lucky to have a husband that cooks for me on Sundays so I can work and play.
I hope your Sunday is going as well.

unartful thursday

The sun is peeking out today. I would love to have just one more day like yesterday. It was so cool I had to take advantage of it and dig thru the attic. I must have 30 of those huge plastic bins chock full of fabric. I actually weeded it down to 30 in the spring. Anyway, I am on the search for my shell fabric's and I did find one but there are more. I tried to label the bins but it's so hot in the attic that they fall off. But on the bright side I am finding some pretty cool fabric's that I had forgotten I had....sort of like Christmas in September.
No new art today.....still working on the bagz.

I will show them t o m o r r o w.

rain & hula hoops

Gustav arrived today....bringing us some lovely cooler temps and juicy rains!
The cats are enjoying the fresh air and it makes for a great sewing day for me.

Whilst living in England, we got hooked on a little potato snack called Hula Hoops. DH received a package yesterday from some work buddies......massive amounts of our favorite snack! So I promptly made them a thank you card. Thanks guys!!

it's the simple things in life........
Have a great Wednesday!

doodles

When feasting on blue crabs in Maryland one must cover the table with paper. While waiting for them to arrive my God-daughter, Natalie and I were drawing our desserts. It was in June but the past holiday weekend just made me crave the crabs, being the last big beach weekend of the year.

Are you a donor?

Crusade No.22

Today is the due date for Michelle Wards/Green Pepper Press Street Team's Crusade number 22. I have been pondering for a while and now is my last chance to do this. This month's crusade is about gratitude and paying it forward.
The thing I am most grateful for is the life I am living today. The life given to me by my loving husband, Bill. A little more than three years ago he selflessly gave me one of his kidneys. Not a second thought went through his mind, no doubts, in fact he got himself in the best of shape so that he could be my donor. No family members could donate as we all (my Mom and siblings all have/or had the dreaded kidney disease) and those who don't have it need to be aware that it could happen to them down the road. The doctor's have finally admitted that this could be hereditary.
As miracles do happen, Bill turned out to be a 100 percent match for me. So much that I never needed to take steroids. And the odds of that were one in a million.
Now for the pay it forward part. I like to participate in helping with others causes...sending pink socks for Michelle's Pink Wink, sending in my pink squares for Monica's Love Squares doll, ect.
But mainly I feel it's my responsibility to do my best to promote organ donation. And I do so whenever I can. I have tried to educate myself in order to answer questions when they arise about the donation process. People have misconceptions about what actually happens. Yes, you can still have a normal funeral and you can specify which organs may or may not be used.
In this age of recycling it makes total sense to me to recycle yourself and save lives in the process! And you or your loved one will live on....in the bodies of others. This to me is comforting.
