studio sunday

The tea party yesterday was great! I met so many new people and WOW! what imaginations.
I found out there are chocolate fortune cookies....I love fortune cookies and yes I actually eat them....and make art with the fortune of course!

..... the party lights burned until the wee hours......

....and this art bra was a hit......

But now for the cleanup and making some art today. I am excited to get back into the swing of things. I am having three drawings of art tags for the attendee's of yesterday's party and I will get things ready for that. Good luck ladies!
And a big thank you to Vanessa at A Fanciful Twist for hosting such a wonderful party and a big Congrats on her 200th post!

day 2

Day two back at home and yep, it's storming. But that makes for a good studio day, and that is where I am headed. For some reason I have always loved sewing on a rainy day. And since it's not stinking hot out today...a little yard work. My morning glories took off while I was away and they need some direction. While gone, my Cannas bloomed along with Crape Myrtle, Bee Balm and the Butterfly bushes.

I have rag bag orders so I will posting them as they get delivered.

I just realized that it's FRIDAY!!!!!

Have a great weekend!

back from vacation

I'm baaaack! Sorry if I left you hanging. I ran off on a two week vacation and didn't say anything because I'm a safety girl and didn't want to annouce that I would be gone for a while. I guess I need a code word for when I will be away.
Anyhow, I left you with a sun rise and I am returning with a sun set. I returned last night and need a little time to get back to normal. I missed blogging while I was away.

Thanks to everyone who was concerned and sent me e-mails to see if I was alright. I forgot about the weather here and some people thought maybe I was blown away with a tornado. I feel bad, but then it also made me feel good that you were concerned and that I was missed.
Have to grocery shop today and tomorrow it's back to making art and sewing....I am having some serious withdrawl!!!!

art day friday

This friday's art is a picture frame made for DH for Father's Day. It's a canvas frame that you paint, ect. And there is a cute picture to go inside.

Oh, what a beautiful mornin' as they say here in Oklahoma. I actually got up before the sun! I snapped this photo just before the sun emerged.
As always....have an artful weekend!

Irresistible/puzzles

The Green Pepper Press Street Team Crusade No.21 - Irresistible, is all about crayons so you know I have to participate in this one. You make rubbings with crayons and then paint over it for a wax resist effect. Of course I used a pink crayon! But not you everyday pink crayon. This one has glitter in it. I found it in my box of crayons and I think it belonged to one of my Grandson's when they lived with us. I chose to rub puzzle pieces.

Before using the pink crayon I tried rubbing with a copper crayon, so you can see parts of it in the background.

Here you can see the glitter more clearly.

This is the actual color of the piece. All of these are the same piece of art but photographed in different locations with different light sources. I used purple acrylic paint with varied dilutions with water.

If you hold it to the light and turn it, the copper pieces come through. A fun project. Thanks Michelle!

cook book art

After making these family recipe cook books for the women family members last Christmas, my nephew, Marc requested one. So I made this one for him.

Instead of rehabing a child's board book, I used a new blank book. And I used the Xyron to attach everything inside instead of using gel mediums. And no ribbon embellishments...I think he will like it.

This week in the garden......the lillies are blooming.

stormy monday

It's stormy and cool today and that makes for an excellent studio day. I love to sew on rainy days. Let's just hope that the power stays on. This is a collaged wooden picture frame and it's my sample for my next class at the Paper Crown on July 10th.
We will be using inchies and a host of other items to create this one of a kind piece of useful art.

These are sneak peeks at a new bag created for my daughter. She will receive it later this week but she couldn't wait and wanted a couple peeks at it. Here you go...that's it. The rest will have to wait.

What kind of art is this? stay tuned......

friday....art day

This weeks choice of canvas? Luggage! My old black suitcase had seen better days and has been retired. While waiting at the airport carousel for my luggage to come around, it's hard not to notice that just about EVERYONE has black luggage. And it get confusing at times, especially when people are in a hurry. Sure I have a brightly colored strip of fabric on mine to distinguish my bag but now so does everybody else. SO.......

I bought a nice green suitcase!

And I painted it and I don't think anyone will pick this up by accident.

......and just to be sure.....I put my name on the back.

Have a great & artful weekend!

flying day

That's right...it's finally flying day for my babies. They are nesting on my front porch and today they took their first flights. I was hoping I wouldn't miss it. There are five chicks and they were not going to fit in the nest very much longer. They grew so fast!
They chose the windiest day of the year so far. Parts here are under tornado watches until 8 PM with a chance of SOFTBALL size hail!! That's something I hope I never have to see.

A bumber crop of catnip is emerging!
Tomorrow is art day and it's suitcase art.

I gave in to her.....she is such a diva!
Happy Wednesday!

movie art

We went to see the new Indiana Jones movie last weekend and what a treat! The movie theater that is.....it was soooo awesome! It is an old theater that was revamped in the old theater style. They have doormen with white gloves to open the door for you. The seats are super padded and comphy.....and they rock...no really they recline and you can rock in them. There is a grand auditorium and balconies you can have dinner served to you while you watch the movie.(next time) They also have the beautiful curtains on the extra large screens that go up and down when the movie starts and ends....just like the old days. But what impressed us most was the sound! It was THX sound and blew us away. DH is not much for going to the movies but he is ready to go back. Oh, and there is a fireplace in the lobby.
The morning glories are starting to climb.

studio sunday

It's studio sunday and I need to get up there, but first I need to let everyone back home know we are OK. We didn't get the BASEBALL sized hail. I did finally manage to get a few lightning photo's. I could never get them before, but there were so many bolts coming down that it was pretty easy. These are the two best shots.
One cloud to ground and one cloud to cloud. Most people I know are not outside during storms but I come from a family of storm appreciators. We get the chairs out and sit on the porch. Some people call us the Addams family.
