Holiday wishes

Merry

Christmas!

&

Happy Holidays!

fabric update

Did I stick to my rule?

And not buy any new fabric until next year?

Are you kidding?

No way.....but I tried really hard.

I bought Christmas fabric at half price...

...to make gift bags.

So I don't feel bad.

I bought a cute new purse at the craft show last weekend.

And I needed a wallet to match....

...so I made this one.

...a mended heart on the front...

...and initial on the back.

The whole thing before folding it up.

(front)

..and inside.

I had fun making the printed text fabric using a rubber stamp and some acrylic paints.

Try sewing something today!

random friday

It's Friday....
...so anything goes...
layered, tattered & stitched....
...a description of myself?
...sometimes....

...but not today!
It's the new book I'm reading by Ruth Rae.
I love the heart on the front.
A good read.

...as usual...
& have a great weekend!

a few more....

Thought I would show a few more decorations around the house.
...funky angel...
...one of my favorites...
I didn't make her.
She is from a craft show in upstate NY.

One year I made a batch of these gingermen.
You make sew him up in flannel & cover him with a cinnamon mixture.
It lasts forever.

...greens for my English bird...

...and my redhead angel.
I made her eons ago.
I keep everything!
Just ask DH.

Happy Wednesday!

a few Santa's

I cannot believe it is already December 15th!
I have been decorating my home and thought I would show a couple of my Santa's.
This is one of my mini Santa dolls.
He sits nicely on a cabinet knob.

This Santa was a promotional item from Hallmark.
He holds a tea light in the back.
I made the wine bottle night light a couple weeks ago.

My bald Santa doll from many years back.
I made my sister a cute little bald Santa with roving wool for the beard and back part of his hair.
I don't think she cared much for him, so I made her a newer one with a hat.

...this is my funky ornament Santa.
Also from many many years ago.
He likes to hang out in the kitchen.
Have a funky Tuesday!
Of course I mean that in a good way.

Monday musings

It was a great weekend.
Weather was good.
Upper 60's
...walked around the lake without a coat.
The Indie craft bazaar was very nice.
DH bought me a sock monkey!
I have never had one before and Charlie was so soft and cute.
These things were flying off the shelves.
They also had cute ornament monkeys too.

He looked a little chilly...
...so I gave him a hat.

This is what Santa brought me...early.
I have wanted one for three years...
...ever since I experienced one at the Houston show.
I LOVE IT!!!
Have a good day!

random friday

I am going to make Friday's my random post day.
...whatever I may want to show or tell you...
...it could be anything...
These angels flew out of here this week.

And this is where I am headed tomorrow.
I will let you know if I find any irresistible goodies.
I hope so.

Great weekend wishes!

freezing!

It's freezing here today.
The temp is 17!
They said it dipped down to 10 last night...brrrrr.

...even Miz P had to put her scarf on.

I am staying in today and keeping warm. Working on last minute Christmas gifts and getting my cards finished and sent out. I am even dreading the short walk to the mail box...geez!

Stay warm and have a great Thursday.
(unless you are somewhere hot...then disregard:)

playing with angels

I started this painting last summer and didn't like it.
Thanks to the beauty of layering I did some repainting.
She looked like this for a while.
But it looked like she was sporting an afro.

...still not happy.

...mosaic version...accidently slipped in here.

I gave her a new do....some darker hair.
I like her now.
Happy Wednesday!

tag tuesday

It is a very chilly...no forget chilly...it's downright freezing here today! It's 29 degrees and a good day to stay home by the fireplace. But I have a couple doctor appointments today and must leave my warm domain and brave the elements....sigh.

We had our tag swap on Saturday and wow! These are the tags I received.
The top photo's show the fronts of the tags and the bottom shows the backs.

...very clever ladies!

I really love this one by Nancy Knox.
I also loved her Halloween tag.

I don't know the significance of the fish for Christmas, but the shrinky dink Christmas lights are too cute!

...the flip side is adorable too.

Well, it is about that time that I need to start thinking about heading out the door...brrrr.

I hope your Tuesday is warm and toasty.

six OH! four

It's my 604 th post.
I didn't realize I'd hit the 600 mark...
...would have had a giveaway.
Oh well.
...funny photo...
from photofunia.
It's fun...go ahead and play.
They just added some new stuff.

Have a good weekend.
We are going Christmas shopping.
I already got my gift....
...and I will show it off next week.

tag swap

What is this jumbled up mess of red and green?

...it's my Christmas tags for the swap at paper Crown.

...it's a tag on a tag with a tea tag...

I hope that wasn't too confusing.

And I would like to thank you all for the sweet comments about my Grandson. The next Kaffe Fasset? Who knows...stranger things have happened. We will have to wait and see. He told his Mom that he only wants to spend his money on sewing items...hmmm...

Have a good Wednesday!

a new month

It's December already and boy will this month fly by quickly!
I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving.
Mine was great.
My daughter and grandson flew out to be with us...
...leaving the other half of her family to celebrate with his family.

Hours of quality time were spent with my grandson Kasey...working on the new quilt. Yep, the massive king size one I had laid out on the table last week. I taught him how to sew and he ran with it.

He wanted to stay up all night and finish it. That would have been nice but I had to explain that it was never going to happen.

It was a great visit...
...time flew much too quickly.
Missing them both.
Time to move on...
...have a billion things to get done for the next holiday!

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Here are a few holiday things around my house.

Pumpkins on the porch.
We will take out the seeds and roast them.

...tea towel

Flag in the front yard.

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

No art today...
...no art this week.
Lots of cleaning and baking.
Family coming for Thanksgiving!
Have an artful week for me.

weekend update

...quilt update...
I worked on this sucker for five hours yesterday.
It neatly covers the top of my table...
...all 1000 sets

That is 1000 sets of four squares.
So there is 4000 squares of fabric on my table, ready to be put together. And I am ready to start sewing them up. I didn't get to all the bins of fabric yet but I have to stop and get going on this. I noticed a few duplicates but after a while I couldn't remember them all.
That's it.
Have an artful weekend!

good news

Doing the happy dance today...while I can....before I get another painful shot in my still bruised foot from two weeks ago...ugh! BUT...Art Quilting Studio magazine has published a couple pieces of my cloth art.

They put Danita's cute Frida on the cover.
I love her work.

I entered the "What's in your fridge?" challenge.
If it's summer there is always a watermelon in my fridge.
I knew in advance that this was going to be in there...
...but....
As I was having my coffee this morning I was reading thru the rest of the magazine and I found this on page 130. Here is another piece in the Patchworks section. Total surprise.
The bee and the buckle inchies were from a swap and I forgot to give credit to my inchie swap friends...oops...sorry. It was an oversight...but don't they look great on there.
Busy day today...
...dreaded shot at 3:45...
...have all day to (dread) look forward to it.
Hope you are having a dread free-shot free day!

random this and that

Playing with stamps...
Stampotique has some new stamps and I love that they are heads. They are cousins to the other stamps I have designed by Daniel Torrente. I gussied up this girl with a crown and funny glasses.

These are the vintage earrings I purchased at the Girlie show a couple weekends ago, from my favorite vendor...Skip to my Lou. These are made from rosaries. And the finishing touch...she always attaches her jewerly to an old photograph.

Tomorrow I will show you where this little gem has shown up...
Hope your Tuesday is going well.

new junque

Happy Monday. This week has barely started and I will be glad when it's over. Doctor appointment today, dental tomorrow and another doctor on Wednesday, and then my car also goes back for another recall.

Last week whilst rummaging through my many stacks of fabric, I managed to add this little item to my junque journal collection. I taught my class last Thursday and wanted to add something new. It is made of those pesky postcard thingy's that always fall out of the magazines. The front and back covers are made from cardboard.

...closeup..
I glued 4 or 5 of the cards together to give the page some strength.

I stamped this image onto a piece of soft interfacing then sewed it onto the page. I really like the look and feel of it.

I used my newest tool...the corner rounder.
...it's made by the Crop-o-dile people...
It gives you the choice of a quarted inch or half inch corner.
And like the crop...it's so easy to use.
I guess that's my plug for the day.
Have a great day!
