breakin'

It's time again for me to take a little blogging break....

I'll be back before you know it.

You won't even know I'm gone.

buh bye!

new art

Good morning! It's a nice cool morning here in hot Oklahoma. The back door is open and the kitties are loving it. Can Fall be around the corner?

I am not finished with this piece yet but sent it in anyway because the class is ending, and it's up on the featured art for the week board....I am thrilled!

I am happy with the background on this one but not so much with her face.

As I was having breakfast on Saturday, the sun was shining on my roses just so and I jumped up to get the trusty camera. I love how it turned out.

The morning glories are decorating the yard in shades of blue and purple.
We had a non eventful weekend due to DH not feeling well. It was a bad cold and he is better now but he went to great lengths to insure that I don't catch it. Once I get a bug I tend to keep it for a very long time.

Have a marvelous Monday!

and the winner is.....

But first...

Here is my latest homework portrait. She was a lot of fun to create. Her hat is constructed of paper napkins and collage pauge. The background is also napkins and modeling paste.

The quilt guild met last night and we learned a bit about fractured quilts. No it's not a blurry photo...it was made that way.

Here is a closer look. I saw it from across the room and thought...I don't think so. I have bad eyes and making a quilt like this would put me over the edge. It's interesting and different and I like that in a quilt, but this technique is not going on my to-do list.

Now for the winner of my art angel doll...the one celebrating my two years of blogging....and it's

Susan

from a walk in the park.
Congrats!!

She'll be flying on her way to Virginia.

DH pulled her name from the hat last night.

Have an aRtFuL weekend!

Wednesday ramblings

Here is yet another studio shot.

These are some of my dyed fabrics.

It's like a rainbow in a box.

You all think my studio is neat and tidy.....NOT!

It would be great....

...but it never stays that way.

...yep, still covering cans & stuff ...

...have a lollypop...

...the morning glories are in full swing!

This pic makes me think of Jack and the beanstalk.

...and Suzi's class is over.

It was so much fun.

Every week looking forward to the next segment.

She is going to continue with the

Goddess & the Poet 2

in December.

Well, thats my rambling for today.

I am working on several homework pieces and will show them soon.

Best Wednesday wishes!

diva's and queens

A few more studio pic's.
I thought this was interesting with the textured glass shining through the shade. I love stained glass!

...they think I am....

...top shelf diva's...

...and Queen of the studio...
I don't remember how old I was when I got this Madame Alexander doll. I have always loved her. She is from the 50's and has pierced ears and seamed stockings (not panty hose) I love seamed stockings...I always though they were sexy and now I see the girls wearing them again on the dancing shows...yay! Oh, and she also has bendable elbows and knees. (and red hair...love it!)

....she needs a makeover...
I need to find a doll hospital.

...and of course...you know who traded in her party hat for a crown.

this is my new doll class for Fall.
She's a sweet punkin' doll.
Should I call her "punkinhead"?
That is what I called my daughter when she was a baby.
We all have big punkinheads in our family.
We call it the family big head.
Someone told me that is a good thing.
NOT when you go to buy hats.
...anyway...here is her closeup.

Happy Friday
&
ARTful weekend to all!

2 years

Today is my two year blogaversary!
I can't believe it's been two years. I am blogging very early as I have a busy day and I am teaching this class tonight. This class being this angel doll.

I made some special Barefoot Contessa cupcakes. I found out the hard way that a muffin paper is not the same as a cupcake paper..oops! Anyway it's going to be a fun class.

So this angel doll would love to watch over your creative space. She will be given a new home next Thursday. Just leave me a comment between now and then and I will put your name in the drawing.

Studio photo one...I did tell you that these were random shots?

...and picture number two...
ribbon spools
(in the powder room but still part of the studio)
Thanks for stopping by today....have a good one!

cards and studio shots

I have been making some greeting cards.....lots of birthday's and anniversaries are coming up.

I'll show some of those tomorrow...some have to wait. But today I will show a package that I completely covered with paper.

Back It's a "feel better" package for a fellow blogger.

front
....it's on it's way....

Last week I said I would post some studio pic's. I will put two up today since I missed yesterday.
I like to have some positive words around the place.

I almost got rid of this old pipe rack...but re purposed it instead.
More tomorrow...and it's a special day!
Hope your today is special.

random monday stuff

I saw this book in the window of the Paper Crown and it immediately took me back....waaay back to my childhood. I used to have this book. Does that ever happen to you? You see something old that you had as a child and it does something to you...a weird or happy feeling.
I also get this feeling with certain sidewalks, shade trees and smells.

There wasn't much left of this poor book but it sure sparked me. Oh, and there is a line of fabric out now with the Golden books prints.

This is a gift from an artful friend of mine. I love it and use it daily. She has been MIA this summer and I hope to see her soon.

And finally....Miz P sends you all a nice Monday lick!
(or is it raspberries to Monday?)
Have a good day!

sunrise and organization

I was up this morning before the birds. Not by choice....hard night. DH cracked me in the head with his elbow around three-ish. Then he got up to run around 4 am and forgot to turn off his alarm. My cat Pippi waits by the bathroom door every morning and waits to hear the shower turn off and then she cries and bats at the door until he lets her in. It's funny...it's her time with him. She head butts him and then that's it. He can't touch her the rest of the day.

So after all of this commotion, I could not get back to sleep. But then I got to see the pretty purple sunrise.

Here are the 40 plus boxes in their new home. It's an old Yankee candle cabinet I picked up for a song when a local card store went out of business. It is perfect for them. I even put them in alphabetical order. Look out it may snow!

Sorry about the poor photo quality. No matter how many shots I take, the lighting is not good in that area so they blur a bit....but you get the idea.

I also covered a bunch of paper napkin boxes.

The sun rises at the back of the house and that is where my window is so (since the lighting was good) I took some random pictures of the studio and will show some of them next week.

Hope your weekend is artful!
