oops photo

Last week after having a small procedure done, my DH bought me a sweet little bouquet of feel better roses.......... I was about to photograph them and changed my mind and the camera went off and captured this effect. I just love it. The white squiggle is the light shining on the countertop, which is why I decided not to take the picture there.

Have a pink crayon day!

gray solution

Here it is...my solution for hiding the gray when you can't use color any more....a cute hat. I couldn't pass up these beautiful pink azaleas and DH threw me in front of the camera and shot this photo. Well, it works for me because most of the gray is in my bangs.
My birthday is in a few weeks and I keep sliding closer to the big....no, HUGE 6-0, so I need to face reality and just get over it. No one said it was easy......sigh!
Today is a real mess weather wise and I am loving it. The wind sounds like a hurricane and the rain is flying in every direction. The cats told me to close the back door...it was raining in. It's such a good day for sewing and baking...and napping...and reading the new issues of Cloth Paper Scissors and Where Women Create. I have some class work to get done and then I will see where my mood takes me. Hope you are also having a great day!

a request

I had a request yesterday to show my new artsy earrings so I thought why not, so here they are.

This is my favorite pair. I had a pair like them and I lost the guy earring. I call him my little salad fork. BTW I am into and collect atomically correct jewelry.

And these were too much fun to pass up. It was one of those deals where it was cheaper to buy three pair. Twist my arm.

Oops! not the best photo here. They are just dots of silver on a wire.
Oh my, the gray hair is really coming on with a vengeance. I will have a solution for that on tomorrows blog entry.

Happy Tuesday!

stormy monday

Another weekend of stormy weather. We got some much needed rain and didn't get any unwanted tornadoes here.

.... scary skies....

We did make it to the Arts Fest downtown at the Myriad gardens. It's great, you can view the art and the beautiful gardens. I captured this pretty guy up in the trees.

It was cloudy and cool...my kind of weather. When the sun did finally come out we were ready to leave. I got some funky new artist made earrings. (The best kind!)
Happy Monday!

a day late

Here I am ...a day late...I completely forgot about Earth day. I had a procedure done the day before and I was still a little loopy. But.....

YIKES! We are killing our planet. I could not believe the trash swirl in the Pacific they showed on Oprah yesterday. It's so sad.....and scary! The poor animals. I can't stand to see animals mistreated.

I have been recycling my junk mail into art. I want to cut down on the plastic's but how do you do that when the things you need come that way?
I saw some perfectly good stools in someones trash yesterday but I didn't have the right vehicle to pick them up. As I drove past them I thought of an idea to turn them into mini shelves in the studio. When I came back by later in the day....they were gone. So at least someone got them and a little less went into the ever growing landfill.
I did find some good rusty washers in the parking lot.

what happened to Spring?

Here we are in the latter part of April and it's in the 80's all week....already! I prefer the cooler part of Spring but I'm not complaining. It's been a beautiful week for far...weather wise.

So far all of my tests have come back good. Except for the dreaded cholesterol levels where my bad is bad and my good is bad. I am trying to exercise more.

I was in Tuesday Morning (that is a store here in the states) perusing the napkins and I found this "do it yourself" Golden book. They are blank and you do your own thing with it. I grew up reading the Golden books and had to have it.
I was into text that week so I used text inchie squares and added some decorative paper napkin flowers.
If anyone is interested in swapping some cool paper napkins, let me know.

new monday

A busy week ahead with many appointments but I am determined to get some fun art into it.

I have been sewing a bit and love the look of this square I made based on a design I saw in either Quiting Arts or Clothe Paper Scissors. I believe theirs had paper but I just used fabrics.

DH and I ate at the lake last weekend and these guys were all wind surfing. I thought they just stayed on the water but they catch some air and go up as high as 20 feet. No thanks. With my luck I would come down somewhere on the highway in the middle of traffic.

Does look like fun though.
Have an excellent week!

just checking in.....again

I am still here...haven't blown away. Just extremely busy and my class is tonight so I am off to bake some yummy oatmeal cookies for my students.

I do have some things to show and tell but they will have to wait until tomorrow. This is my season to see all of my doctors and I still have a few more to see and then I will be free! I am always happy to be done with it all...and so far...so good!

just checking in....

Just checking in to say that we are OK here. I have never experienced wind like what we had yesterday! I went to reach into the mail box and the wind blew my hand into the bricks...I thought I had broken my finger.

And those fires!! Friends and co-workers had to evacuate their homes. It was scary. They turned out to be safe. But the really sad part is that over 100 homes were lost and now they are saying that these fires were set on purpose.

Hope you have a colorful weekend and Happy Easter!

dill crayonz

Not much going on here art-wise as I am preparing for my upcoming classes. But I thought I would post this big juicy colorful jar of crayons. Just checking in ....not much new.

...and a new bag to show...

It's a tote and I forgot to photograph it before it went out so the picture quality is not the best, but I really like it.
Hope you are having an artful Wednesday!

Barbie is 50

It happens to all of us at some point...the big five OH! Now Barbie is 50 and dang she still looks great!

I remember when she first arrived on the scene (now I am showing MY age!) I was heart broken.....they were sold out when my Mom went to purchase one for me. They were $3.00 and to console me until they were restocked, my Mom bought me a Babs doll. She was a mere $1.50 and made of a cheaper plastic and just didn't have the wow factor that the real Barbie had.

But I did get my Barbie and she had the original blond ponytail. My next doll was the red head bubble cut Barbie and of course I had the fuzzy headed Ken to keep them company. And I still have them....I told you I keep everything!

friday fun

Yay...it's Friday! No plans for the weekend...just glad that it's here.

We needed some more chip clips for the pantry so I made these. I know....too much time on my hands. Sometimes I just do these things...just because I feel like it. I am a spontaneous person and so is my DH and that's not always a good thing.

This is a picture of the dead flowers on my niece's kitchen table. She was keeping them there to see how long it would take her husband to 1. notice them or 2. say something about them or 3. throw them away. For all I know they may still be there.
Well....you know I saw the texture in them and I told her I could make them beautiful and I think I accomplished that task.
Your task for the weekend....make something beautiful!!

royalty

Her Majesty, Queen Patti has invited me to teach my Junque Journal class at her royal classroom at The Queen's Ink in Savage, Maryland. What a thrill for me!

....a new classroom for me...

.....I could live in this place....

...a shot of the store...
I always make a trip here when I am back at home in Maryland....it's my favorite. If you are in the area...don't miss it. It's in the old Savage Mill and has lots of specialty shops and artists studio's.

...this would look great in my studio...

....yummy brushes...
Are you motivated yet?
Do something creative today! Use the color purple!

april fool

Can it really be April already? Yep, and I would love to fool someone but there's no one here. I tried to change my header for this month and it won't let me so I guess that's my april fools gag from Blogger....maybe later.

Are you having a bad hair day? Just plop a huge bow on your head and be on your way. Just another page from the junque journal. I am teaching the class again at a new place and I will fill you in on that news tomorrow....hint....it's my favorite place to go in MD.

The first thing I do when I buy fabric is get it home and wash it. Some people do and some don't. I like to get the sizing and chemicals out. Then there are no surprises after I make something with it and wash it. I was putting this stash away and thought it looked so pretty so I grabbed the trusty camera and took a pic to show you. It was a real rainbow in my basket.....happy colors!

And on that note I have gotten so many nice responses about the quilts I've been showing...I thought I would throw in another favorite. You know I love the pinks in this bridge scene.
That's it for today...hope you don't get fooled ....and have a wonderful wednesday!
