flu shot bluez

Yep, got my flu shot yesterday and was fine until last night about 10:30 when every muscle in my body felt so sore I had to go to bed. A little better this morning but still feel like a truck ran over me.

Today, I get my broken crown fixed. No not that kind....the one on my tooth. Maybe they can just numb my whole body.....yeah...dream on.

This is a bag for a little ballerina.

...don't forget to work some art into your day...

no lunch tuesday

It's already Tuesday and no time for lunch with the girls today. It's deadline time...need to work work work!

Here is my sweet little Santa. He is 6 and a quater inches high and has a clothes pin with a magnet on his back so you can hang up your Christmas list. I actually made a bunch of angels this way and used them to hang up my Christmas cards. My front door was metal and they looked nice hanging on the back.

...he's ready for his close up

hope you have a great hair day!

another monday.....

This was basically my weekend....making angel dolls. The dresses are reds, greens and some beigey Christmas prints....beigey?

...no bucket of wings here...bucket of heads
I get all the component parts made then have fun putting them all together. I like creating the hair...then the personalities begin to emerge.

my current read
I am loving this issue. It is always fun to see where other women create and a good source for decorating and storage ideas. I read in a different magazine where a woman didn't have a place for creating and she rented a storage space and made it her studio...now that is extreme..but an option. I could not imagine not having a place to create art.

think pink today!

fabric friday

This bag was created as a book bag with special dimensions for a friends daughter.

I forgot to photograph the lining fabric. It's a flowery print with lots of colors.

...and speaking of fabric...I got my hands on some yummy stuff last weekend. Can't wait to play with these!

Nothing special planned for this weekend so hopefully it will be artful.

...hope you have an artful weekend too!

new doll

I am running late today. AOL was not cooperating so I had to switch over to Comcast so I could post. I designed a new smaller angel doll for a class. She has a rusty heart around her neck and a tiny rusted halo on her bald head. I think she is sweet. Her pink cheeks aren't showing up on this photo.

I put a coffee mug next to her to show the size. She also has some rusty bells back on her wings.
Have to get my Esty shop going so I can sell these before Christmas.
Hope you're having a good Wednesday.

feisty gifts

My friend Debbie gifted me with this vintage bowling pin from 1956...my favorite year for cars. Then while shopping at the Girlie Show Friday night she bought me these cute feisty pins. DH is always calling me feisty...must have something to do with red hair?

Remember Art? (Nick for short)..my muse? Well, this is his sister Sylvia. She is my new favorite stamp to play with. They both are from the Joe Carrion's Faces collection from Stamper's Annonymous. I love them all. The text and Inner Child stamps are from Character Constructions.....love them too.

Not bowling today but still having lunch with the girls. Have a groovy Tuesday.

weekend update

The Girlie Show is a once a year art show done completely by girlies.

Here is my half of the weekend. I attended the Girlie Show and Friday night party with friends. Thanks to Debbie for an interesting ride. We had great fun. There was lots of food to sample from area restaurants and plenty of funky art.

.... it was jam packed...

I had to have this bracelet from a company called Vintage Found Object Jewerly. She makes the coolest jewelry from bits and pieces of old jewelry and mens belt buckles...all sorts of interesting stuff. I picked up this piece and could not put it down. That rose is done in a tiny petite point embroidery. And another fun thing is that all of the pieces come attached to an old vintage photograph.

Here is DH's half of the weekend. We went to the Weather Festival in Norman. He is a weather buff and missed his calling on career choice. We saw Dorothy and others.

The National Weather Center building was quite impressive.

They had a array of storm chaser vehicles on display.

And some had some pretty intense hail damage.

And we saw our local TV weather persons signing autographs.
Here is Rick Mitchell in his jeans.

Then Sunday was spent sewing bagz and getting ready for my next art project.

Have a great week!

friday update

The makings of Santas has begun.

This year they are going to be a little smaller but rounder. In all sorts of red patterns and flannels. His bag will have trees and greens poking out. And beards will be made from an array of different yarns and fibers.

rear view

...and the angels are of the same size and shape. Tons of different Christmas prints or not if preferred for year round use. And hair styles galore from wire to mini buttons. As always there are NO two alike.

behind
Thanks for all the inquiries. I will update with any new funky designs.
Don't forget to have an aRtFuL weekend!

great storm

We had a good storm last night. We got away with large pea sized hail and lots of lightning. No power outage. I enjoyed it.

It is finally looking like Fall around here now.

Today I have to stay at home ALL DAY until the heater guys arrive to do the Fall servicing. No window....all day! Anywhere from 9 am until ??? Oh well I will be working on those Santa dolls.

I hope your day is ArtFul!

inchies

I finished off the tags with some tea dyed strings sprayed withsome Tattered Angels glitter mist.
I also used the glitter mist (love that stuff!) on my Christmas inchies...below.
I used a smaller stamp of the same Santa I used on the tags and just cut the heads off (sorry Santa) to make the one inch by one inch squares. Then I finished them off by putting a gold embossed edge around them. I believe that the embossed edge really set them off and made them complete.
Now I am in the mode and want to make these but other projects call. And so does the doctors office...off for more fun medical tests today...really looking forward to the treadmill stress test....NOT! I couldn't study for this one.

....make some inchies....they are fun to make. Mine are on their way to England today.

Have an artful Wednesday

tagz

Did you vote today?

I finished up my Christmas tags for the swap at My Hearts Fancy. I made them using a stamp by Character Constructions and Tim holtz distress inks. With a little help from Derwent watercolor pencils.

I was going for the vintage look.
I can't wait to see what I get in return.

a new month

A new month and I am having trouble adjusting to the time change. But I am getting up earlier but going to bed later...I don't think I am getting that extra hour.

Anyway here are a few things I have been working on. Now that November is here the time will fly right into next year. It's crunch time! I have been working on some city scapes but using watercolor pencils instead of paint. I had bought some Derwent watercolor pencils then Sandy introduced her love for Derwent inktense pencils so I had to buy some of those and try them.
Now we are putting them to the test and trying them out on every surface. The above picture shows how they look on painted wood. You can go to Sandys blog and see how they look when used on fabric. You know I have to try that one.

I've been rusting some things.

...and working on some tag swaps for Christmas.

Tomorrow I will show how they came out. And I WILL be posting photos of the Santa and angel dolls. Hang with me...they are coming.
I have more medical tests to look forward to this week but won't have any results until later in the month. Will keep you posted on that.
Meanwhile, have a great week and make some art!
