Christmas cheer

These days I am busy making decorations for the holidays.
I made the star last year....

But what I really want to make now are some of these collaged ornaments. Jenny Doh posted them on Facebook and I must make some. We have been down sizing in our new smaller home and I was tossing some old Christmas balls and quickly retrived them from the trash bin.

I see myself collaging a lot more in the new year. I also have plans to revamp the old blog and seriously update things. Out with the old and in with the new!

December

Wow, did I really just post my November quilt?

Well, I did have an annoucement of sorts to make and here it is.

Two years ago I moved from Oklahoma to Delaware, but what I never told my bloggers is that I moved and DH stayed in Oklahoma. So I have been living solo for the last 2 years. He stayed to finished out and retire from his job. And he did that 2 weeks ago and has moved to Delaware with me.
I came to the East Coast early to find and build our retirement home. He wanted fishing, surfing, bowling and golf all near by and I found it all here in Long Neck, DE.
I love our neighborhood, first of all it's a beautiful community. We can walk to the pool and fish in our own backyard. The people here are great. Lot's of community activities and everyone makes an effort to know their neighbors.
My last neighborhood in Oklahoma had nice people but we didn't really know them. The people across the street came over when we were packing up to leave and they asked us if we were the 'new' people.
I didn't want anyone to know I was here alone for obvious reasons. Studio Sunday's are back!

I hear that blogs are ancient history and peeps just Facebook now but I continue to hang in with my random blogs. The New Year will bring much more art to make and show.
And I have family members and friends that read to keep up with my life....

That's it for now.......Have a great weekend!

November news

Seems I forgot to welcome in November. And now it is already half gone!
Where does the time go and why does it go faster the older you get?

This is the November page from my quilted calendar.

The studio cat has crashed!
I have a really cool annoucement but I cannot tell until next week.

Meanwhile stay creative and artful!

art update

As well as an art update, just a quick note that I survived Sandy.
Waiting for the next one tomorrow.

This is my ATC for the swap at Quilting Arts magazine.
You had to put what's in your heart.
Art among a ton of other things.
I hope whomever gets it likes it.
It's hand colored with Gelato's.

I had  wonderful weekend with my daughter and friends in Williamsburg, VA this weekend.
I don't ever remember laughing that hard or as long.
Had to stop at this cool art shop on my way home. It's in West Annapolis, and they sure pack in a lot of goodies in such a small store. If you are ever in the area.....I reccomend it.

Don't forget to vote today!

Friday fun

As I am so busy with doll making and bags and art journals....I took a few minutes this morning to play.
I love the paper that Crate and Barrel wraps your glass items in. Sometimes I will buy a few small glass kitchen things for a couple dollars just to get a big wad of the paper. It's stronger than tissue but not as thick as packing paper.

I sprayed the paper with spray inks and used stencils for the designs, then stamped over with rubber and clear stamps.

I also used some Gelato's for extra color
Here I used a heart stamp for negative and positive images.

And topped it off with a cute Suzi Blu stamp.
Nuture Creativity!

And now I have to clear the yard and prepare for Sandy's arrival.

Have a safe and artful weekend!

Another "good thing"

These are the breast pockets I made and sent to Melanie Testa for her project.
Did you make one? There's still time.

The other project I did this week was make a fabric postcard for Pokey Bolton's project at the Houston quilt show to raise money for a no kill animal shelter called Friends for Life.
The postcards sell for $20. and all the monies go to the shelter.
I figured a lot of peeps would make cats and dogs so I made a bunny. He is a little stressed out.

That's about it for this week.
Have  great weekend and remember....
What you
create
doesn't have to be
perfect!

a good thing

This is a breast pocket I made for Melanie Testa's Breast cancer project. It's in honor of my Aunt Claire who succumbed to the nasty disease many years ago. Yep, I misspelled her name but we all know who she is .I am so  not a morning person.....
Anyway I am spreading the news. Melanie needs 1000 of these pockets so if you want to help go to www.Melanietesta.com.

random studio shots

Just a few pic's from the pink crayon studio.

I have pic's from my work table that stayed cleared off for about a day and I guess my camera was in shock because I cannot find them.

Have an artful weekend!

Hello September

Took an art break and spent time at the beach with DH.

There is something different in the air when fall approaches. Right now we are enjoying some nice cool temps. I welcome tose with open arms.

I never get tired of spending time at the beach.
Now that the tourists have cleared out....it's my time to enjoy!

Now back to cleaning up the studio now that I can stand to be in there without the heat.

Happy Wednesday!

paint or cloth?

I am ready to start  new project despite having company coming and needing to get things made to sell in November. I also need to get my Halloween postcards completed and sent back to My Hearts Fancy in OK. Wish I could take them there myself....I could live in that store.

The photo above is a couple of Pat Pauly's art quilts overlapping each other. I am still inspired by her class nearly a month ago. And I need to complete another piece so that I can remember how to put them together.

Think I am going with cloth....

Friday Update

I made this in Tim Holtz's class Heart and Soul on Wednesday.
What a wonderful time we all had!

I'm not really much of  Steampunk fan but who doesn't love hearts?

Sorry about this pic. I rotated and re-rotated and it just wants to stand on it's side. Anyway it's Tim and his assistant, Mario. They were great down to earth guys loving what they do.

And I want to extend a huge thank you to Patti (aka the Queen) and her crew at The Queen's Ink.
They made this day a  fabulous fun day and a new happy memory in my brain.

Have an artful weekend!!

Friday stuff

I got my "big leaf" quilted and just have to bind it and its done.
I cant wait to get started on the next one. I have a really neat idea for it.

 Sorry about the shadows.

I wish you could smell these peaches. So sweet smelling!
I don't care to eat them but I love the aroma.

This is what I LOVE!
I stopped at the local produce market and found one the size of a large pumpkin for $4.00.
I said this is the one...until I tried to lift it. I couldn't lift the sucker!
Someone got a really good deal on that one.

Have a fabulous and artful weekend!
I will be teaching on Saturday.

Big Leaf

I took a class from Pat Pauly last week called the big leaf.
So much fun!

This is my leaf in progress.

My stash of brights layed out on the table.
A fabric rainbow!

Just had a wonderful weeks vacation with my family.
Why does time fly by so quickly when you are having a good time?

Wishing you rainbows of fabric, paint or whatever your mode of art is.

Happy Friday!

This is a close up shot of my last tattoo.
I love the way he shaded it and the bright pink colors.

This is what I will be making next week.
It's a class I'm taking thru the Quilt Guild.

I came home after signing up and went thru my stash and pulled a whole laundry basket full of bright colors out. Didn't realize I had so many.
Now I need to go thru and narrow them down to a realistic amount.

Family is coming this weekend so I will be off to the beach!
Have a wonderful weekend!

quilt art

 Love this!

And this!
I went to the Quilt show in Hershey last week and this was my favorite quilt. I believe it was made by 21 people. As you cn see it was madde in sections. Great show and great vendors! I wish I could say the same for the bus trip. It was horrible! First of all the bus driver slept late and showed up late. then he didn't know where to go. He spent a good deal of time driving in the wrong direction and getting lost. The worst part is we had NO AC. A bus full of older menopausal women, some with diabetes and cancer patients in the sweltering heat. And the kicker is....the AC worked....he didn't know how to turn it on. The other kicker is tht the bus company is backing up their driver and doesn't give refunds.
I hope your day is cool and artful!

back again

Back from back to back vacations.Didn't bowl very well at Nationals but had a great time.
Enjoyed time with hubby in Oklahoma but it was so very hot. One day the temp in the car read 112! Too hot for me!!

Made a new bag for a special friend (Queen)

It's my favorite so far.

I love using the messy sewing method!
Such texture and messiness....just my style.

Have a wonderful weekend!

This is one of my Smash books.
It's called a mini and it's so darn cute.

This is a page I made using magazine pages.

Oh dear! Still having issues.
Don't know why it is doing this.
It's a tad sideways but you get the point.
My class onSaturday is full :)

More pages to follow......

wish list

I made the above quilt for my daughter a few years ago and it's very much loved and always on her couch.
Every time I go to her home I look at it and think I want to make another one for myself. It's such an easy quilt to make and the pattern is interesting. And Lord knows I have the fabric!

Another quilt I would love to make is this one. Not sure what it is called but I love it. I took this photo at a recent quilt show. Appologies to the maker....I forgot your name. I think it is raw edged or it can be and I like that as well.
Now back to making bags for the time being.

back again!

My blog disappered for a week or so due to some sort of unusual activity.
Thanks to everyone that missed me and wondered where I went.

I have been working on some new art but cant find it in my photo file to show.

Been working on a few new bags and gearing up for my Smash class this Saturday at Queen's Ink.
I've been told I have a few young people in my class and I am excited about that. It's going to be a fun day.

When I am inking things I always put a paper down for the over flow and other ink mess. Then I stamp over the pretty parts and tear them up and use in my other art projects. It's all good!

Wishing you an artful day!
