friday's page

I was the good patient (DH says I am the worst patient) yesterday and stayed in bed all day except for the 15 minutes I took to create my journal page for Day 8, no 9....Today is Day 9 of the...oh...get me off these meds! I'll be OK.
So anyway, I used two of my favorite rubber stamps. I colored the face a bit, made a copy and blew it up...then ripped it into strips and applied it to the page....after painting it a bit with paint and inks and a little mini bubble wrap....love that bubble wrap.

Wishing you all a fantastic weekend!

....do something fun....

another page.....

....another journal page.....day 8! Is it already January 8th already? Another simple page due to not being able to move much.....
....checked into the hospital yesterday for some blood work and x-rays. Got news this morning that it all looks good...except I have costrachondritus, oh spell check isn't even going to touch that one. It is an inflammation of the muscles around my ribs. I have had it before but not like this.
It was caused from all the heavy duty coughing from the last three weeks. The remedy is a drug I can't take due to being a transplant patient so she gave me another drug which I won't take because it is a sedative...so I am on bed rest (yuck) and Tylenol. Being on immunosuppressants also slows down recovery times. There is sooo much I want to do! Yes, I am impatient. But it also hurts to do anything. It hurt to drive my car so DH came home from work to take me to the hospital..what a sweetie.
My mission is to be functional by Saturday so I can go to the Quilt & Embroidery show with my friend Jan.

.
...are you working on your art journal? Get crack-a-lacking....it's 2009!

day 7

Journal page number 7...January 7th '09. Everyone knows that Queen's never make bargains.
I am using two different journals for this project. The large VFW book I showed recently and my smaller moleskin. While pages are being prepared in one I can use the other, This is in my big book. I used paint, ink, stamps and napkins for this page.

I took this pic of Ms. P yesterday attacking my plant. Just wanted to share with you and make sure your Wednesday is warm and fuzzy.

more journaling......

.....the original party girl....Day 6....Jan 6....
Today is to be a self portrait...I chose an old photo of myself.
I will attempt a more recent self portrait in the near future.

This was my first and only page of last years attempt at an art journal....sad, I know. But I added to it and we will see how much better I can do.

My goal every day is to make my DH laugh, and I am pretty good at it. Laughter is good for your heart and soul.
Have a good laugh today!

First Monday

Welcome to the first Monday of the new year. It feels the same as the last but I am hoping to make this year better than the last. I am staying true to my vow to keep an art journal this year. And to help me stick to it, I have joined Misty Mawn in her crusade to create a page a day for the month of January. Misty is a fantastic artist and you can check out her work here and also join in on the fun.

Day 5
My first page is a simple stamped piece because I am still under the weather. I am on my second round of antibiotic's and I managed to get a head cold on top of everything else. Not a good start to the new year. But my pages will get better as I do...hopefully.

Now for the free art papers. Did you know that Lowe's Home improvement centers throw away their outdated wall paper books?

.....they do.....

...but you can leave your name and number and they will call you to come pick them up when they are ready

They gave me 5 books! I had to use a shopping cart to get them to the car. The uses for them are endless. Use them in your journals, cover boxes, collage....endless!

Some even have fabric swatches in them. So next time you are there at Lowe's check it out. I think other stores may do this too. It doesn't hurt to ask...and after all....we are recycling!

art journal progress

Did it take a new year to jump start my creative juices to get an art journal going? I guess so.
I turned the inner blank pages to this.....so far.

I used my new Tim Holtz masks and inks and stamp pads.
Santa was good to me....he brought new art supplies to play with.

On Monday, I will tell you how to get free art papers!
Meanwhile....have a great weekend!

Happy NEW Year!!

Another new year....hope everyone had a great holiday and is ready for a new start. My God-Daughter made these yummy gingerbread boys and girls. Happy cookies.

My plan for this year is to start an art journal ....or two. I tried to start one last year but never got it off the ground. I found this old journal that my father had and thought it would be a good starting point for a larger art journal. I also have a smaller moleskin that I plan to use.

The pages look like this. I will glue them together to make a stronger page then cover them with layers of fun stuff.

This is the seal on the front. It was for keeping expenditures for the VFW. Only a few pages were written on and a few were torn out. Wish me luck. I also plan to make more paintings and art quilts. It is going to be a good year....now if I could only shake this virus! Yep, still have it.

Wishing all of you and very happy and ARTful New Year!!
