Happy October!

Well I am trying to upload my pic's and it's not working. Maybe it's me, not a morning person. I'm up in the studio early today to beat the heat that is on it's way.

Well I can get old photo's so I posted this decorated Pringles can (An idea I borrowed from my blogger friend Sharon) to show how you can artfully send cookies to your favorite college students.
I will be making one "University of Maryland" style for my great niece.

catching up

Hello all! I am still here and was told by some that my blog is being missed..so I am back. My computer is upstairs and it is very hot up here in the summer. Even with the so called AC.

And those who know me know I don't do heat.

So last week we ventured out to PA for the Quilt Extravaganza and here are a few of my fav's. Sorry no credits....oops.

Lost in time

So sorry....I didn't really drop off the edge of the earth. Can't believe I missed the whole month of May! I am posting this from my iPad, so if it works I will definitely be posting more.  
I just noticed that inside the heart on the above pic, it says sweet. Like sweet heart, but I don't think I planned it that way. Or did I? I can't remember much of anything lately.

Right now I am trying to stay awake so I can see the rocket launch tonight from Wallops Island.
It is scheduled for 11:05. Hope I don't forget. Yes, it's that bad ( memory)

Hello April

Someone needs to let Mother Nature know that it's SPRING! It's been so cold! I hope it warms up soon but not jump into Summer heat. I enjoy the cooler weather.

I can't believe that I missed blogging the whole month of March. I have been feeling bad and have been very busy when I wasn't sick. I have been getting ready for the Art Asylum at Queen's Ink in Savage Mill on the 27th.

Been making journals and rag bagz like crazy....promise to show pictures next week.

I had some company for the weekend. While she was trying on clothes at the store I was wandering around and found some interesting textures.

Hello February

I am still here. Surgery is done and I am getting better each day. It was scary but we won't get into that. I am happy to be alive! Still having computer problems, but getting by. This weekend I am working on two projects, one of them being a Valentine art swap for My Heart's Fancy. It's so nice that I am able to stay connected with my art buddies in OK. I miss them....and the great shopping! Hope to be back next week with some show and tell.

studio sunday

OK! It's Studio Sunday and thats where I am and DH is in the kitchen conjuring up some wonderful smells making chili. I don't eat chili but it smells good whilst cooking. I didn't get to explain the photo on my last post because I was having computer problems. It's a card that I made for my niece for her 18th birthday. I can't believe she's 18 alredy and will soon be headed off to collage. where does the time go?

Still having issues with the blog. I can't remember wht the above pic is because again, it's just a jumble of letters and words. I'll get back to it. OK, I remembered, the top is my January quilt page.

This one is a huge whale painting I made for my daughter for Christmas. She loves the whales! I made one for myself in different colors and it's being used for a headboard in the surf room (AKA hubby's office) I am trying to organize and tidy the studio today and get ready for a few new projects. One of which I will share on my next post. You can do it too!

happy artful new year!

Well,I am not off to a very good start this year. The Friday before last I had a gall bladder attack and ended up in the ER. Followed by a week stint on the couch. Surgery is set for the 21st of this month to take the sucker out. I knew I had a stone in 05 but they didn't want to do anything about it. I'm just thankful that DH is retired now and is here to take care of me....and he is! Then I sign onto blogger and things have changed. Can't get photo's to download, not sure if this will come out or not,( but I have DH to fix it.) Took me two days to get this far. So after I get myself taken care of, I plan to give the blog a whole new look with new fun places to visit. Meanwhile I am trying to tidy up the studio and get ready for a new year of fun art.

 These days I am busy making decorations for the holidays.

But what I really want to make now are some of these collaged ornaments. Jenny Doh posted them on Facebook and I must make some. We have been down sizing in our new smaller home and I was tossing some old Christmas balls and quickly retrived them from the trash bin.

I see myself collaging a lot more in the new year. I also have plans to revamp the old blog and seriously update things. Out with the old and in with the new!

December

Wow, did I really just post my November quilt?

 



Well, I did have an annoucement of sorts to make and here it is.

 

 

Two years ago I moved from Oklahoma to Delaware, but what I never told my bloggers is that I moved and DH stayed in Oklahoma. So I have been living solo for the last 2 years. He stayed to finished out and retire from his job. And he did that 2 weeks ago and has moved to Delaware with me.
I came to the East Coast early to find and build our retirement home. He wanted fishing, surfing, bowling and golf all near by and I found it all here in Long Neck, DE.
I love our neighborhood, first of all it's a beautiful community. We can walk to the pool and fish in our own backyard. The people here are great. Lot's of community activities and everyone makes an effort to know their neighbors.
My last neighborhood in Oklahoma had nice people but we didn't really know them. The people across the street came over when we were packing up to leave and they asked us if we were the 'new' people.
I didn't want anyone to know I was here alone for obvious reasons. Studio Sunday's are back!

I hear that blogs are ancient history and peeps just Facebook now but I continue to hang in with my random blogs. The New Year will bring much more art to make and show.
And I have family members and friends that read to keep up with my life....

I had  wonderful weekend with my daughter and friends in Williamsburg, VA this weekend.
I don't ever remember laughing that hard or as long.
Had to stop at this cool art shop on my way home. It's in West Annapolis, and they sure pack in a lot of goodies in such a small store. If you are ever in the area.....I reccomend it.

Friday fun

As I am so busy with doll making and bags and art journals....I took a few minutes this morning to play.

I love the paper that Crate and Barrel wraps your glass items in. Sometimes I will buy a few small glass kitchen things for a couple dollars just to get a big wad of the paper. It's stronger than tissue but not as thick as packing paper.

 

 I sprayed the paper with spray inks and used stencils for the designs, then stamped over with rubber and clear stamps.

 I also used some Gelato's for extra color

Here I used a heart stamp for negative and positive images.

 

And topped it off with a cute Suzi Blu stamp.

Nuture Creativity!

 

And now I have to clear the yard and prepare for Sandy's arrival.

Another "good thing"

 These are the breast pockets I made and sent to Melanie Testa for her project.
Did you make one? There's still time.

 

The other project I did this week was make a fabric postcard for Pokey Bolton's project at the Houston quilt show to raise money for a no kill animal shelter called Friends for Life.
The postcards sell for $20. and all the monies go to the shelter.
I figured a lot of peeps would make cats and dogs so I made a bunny. He is a little stressed out.

Hello September

Took an art break and spent time at the beach with DH.

 

 There is something different in the air when fall approaches. Right now we are enjoying some nice cool temps. I welcome tose with open arms.

 

I never get tired of spending time at the beach.
Now that the tourists have cleared out....it's my time to enjoy!

 

Now back to cleaning up the studio now that I can stand to be in there without the heat.
