little boxes

I like the song "Little Boxes" but these are the new recipe type boxes at Michael's in the dollar bins. I really don't work at Mike's but I used to be a floral designer there...years ago. I had to quit because my kidneys were failing and the rule was that I couldn't sit down and my body said I couldn't stand up for eight hours a day.

This is how I decorated last years boxes...collaged with tissue paper and a little paint here and there.

This time I just slapped on a bit of gesso to cover the design and went over it with Adirondack Color Wash and a sponge applicator. Piece of cake!

For a grunge look. Then used the good ole cropadile to add the label. Now I am finished promoting Michael's.

...have a messy art day!

What did you use to hold on the tissue paper? My stuff looks like grunge naturally I need to pretty it up.

very cool, and very easy! I love to turn something so-so, or ok, downright ugly, into something beautiful! gesso is an art girl's best friend! I'm having a giveaway over on my blog until Tuesday, and if you've got time, I'd love it if you would stop by and enter! http://thingswithwingsartjournal.blogspot.com

have a happy weekend!
